Seva is the Sanskrit word for service. It is our honor to be of service to the local community; aside from the many ways that our students benefit from attending our ongoing classes, all of us at the Yoga Center of Steamboat are delighted to take part in many programs and events that contribute to the well-being of our friends and neighbors:
Past: - Relay for Life $50 donation July 2010
- Yoga Mat Donation Drive for Horizons March 2010
- One Day of Giving to Wish for Haiti February 2010 raised $200
- Yoga Day USA 2010 raised $1,012 for Humble Ranch
- Yoga Day USA 2009 raised $700 for Horizon Specialized Services
- Various local fundraisers and memorials
Current:
Yoga Bear is a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing cancer survivors and caregivers with opportunities for wellness and healing through the practice of Yoga.
In partnership with the Yampa Valley Medical Center, the Yoga Center of Steamboat is grateful for this opportunity to provide cancer survivors with a social outlet and a relaxing place to engage in healthy physical activity. Yoga can be a key component in one's path to healing and recovery; but because of the high cost of health care, most cancer survivors don't have access to this wellness opportunity.
We offer five complimentary classes for cancer patients and a caregiver. For eligibility and a plan of appropriate classes, please contact Jeanne Upbin from the Yoga Center for registration in this program. Click here for information on Yoga Bear. For information on the YVMC program contact 970-870-1047.
-From time to time we trade out specific studio needs with students who have much talent and temporarily more time than money.
Future:
- Jan. 22nd, 2011 Yoga Day USA - proceeds will go to a local non-profit
