Yoga Bear & Cancer Support at the
Yoga Center of Steamboat

The Yoga Center of Steamboat and the Yampa Valley Medical Center have teamed up with Yoga Bear, a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing cancer survivors and caregivers the opportunities for wellness and healing through the practice of yoga.

In partnership with the Yampa Valley Medical Center, the Yoga Center of Steamboat is grateful for this opportunity to provide cancer survivors with a social outlet and a relaxing place to engage in healthy physical activity. Yoga can be a key component in one's path to healing and recovery; but because of the high cost of health care, most cancer survivors don't have access to this wellness opportunity.

As a Yoga Bear student, when you attend a class with a teacher you haven't yet met, please arrive at least 15 minutes before class to discuss your current condition with the instructor. Thisis done with your health and comfort in mind.

How it works:
Application must be made through Nina Darlington at (970) 879-3208.

Who is eligible:
Someone who is undergoing cancer treatment, or has recently completed it.

What is provided:
1. The YCoS provides a 5-punch card with a 3-month time limit. The card may be used by that person as well as a caregiver.

2. If the cancer patient wishes to continue a yoga practice, the Infusion Center at the Yampa Valley Medical Center and the Breast Cancer Awareness Fund may provide 5 additional classes, but only for the cancer survivor (not for the caregiver).
